Hawes dials it down to dulcet for Classic FM
AFTER the violent pyrotechnics of the BBC’S hit series Bodyguard, Keeley Hawes is opting for a distinctly more genteel pace as she takes up her latest role as the voice of Classic FM.
Hawes, who made her debut just before midnight on Saturday, can be heard introducing the programmes, highlights and news bulletins for the country’s most popular classical music station, which has more than 5.2million weekly listeners.
Her duties will include introducing Classic FM’S lineup of presenters, which includes John Suchet, Alexander Armstrong, Myleene Klass, Bill Turnbull, Alan Titchmarsh and Charlotte Hawkins.
Taking over from fellow actress Juliet Stevenson, Hawes will be heard alongside Robert Lindsay, who has been the male voice of the station for five years. Hawes said: “I’m delighted to join Classic FM as the new voice of the station. I’ve been a fan for many years.”
