Russian television crew put Army base on alert
A RUSSIAN TV crew sparked an alert with their “suspicious behaviour” close to a British Army base, the Ministry of Defence has said.
Timur Siraziev, listed by the Russian Embassy as the bureau chief for the country’s Channel One, was seen repeatedly walking past the 77th Brigade’s barracks in Hermitage, Berks.
The MOD said he had been recorded by security cameras and was seen filming close to the perimeter fence.
Gavin Williamson, the Defence Secretary, said anyone acting suspiciously around a military base should be reported to the police “as a matter of urgency.
The news, which was reported by The Mail on Sunday, comes after Russian military intelligence was blamed for poisoning former spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury, leading to increased tensions with Britain.
