Dominic Raab

-

Age: 44

Odds: 7/1 (Sky Bet) Brexit pitch:

A prominent leaver whose stock has risen on the back of his brief time as Brexit secretary, Mr Raab has repeatedly hinted that he is more than ready to throw his hat into the ring if the opportunity presents itself.

If placed in the driving seat, Mr Raab has already stated his desire to go back to Brussels and secure concessions on the Irish backstop, either by securing an exit mechanism that will allow the UK to leave unilaterally, or by removing it altogether. He would also be likely to pump billions of pounds into contingency planning to ensure that Brussels takes the threat of no deal seriously.

But if that fails, he has made clear that walking away on WTO terms would be better than accepting the deal currently on offer.

However, Mr Raab will likely have to face down steep competition in the form of David Davis and Boris Johnson – who will draw on the same base of Brexiteer MPS – if he is to emerge from the race triumphant.
