Crunch time for crisp bag recycling scheme
Walkers is to launch its first nationwide crisp packet recycling scheme in response to concerns over plastic waste.
Pepsico, which owns Walkers, has won the backing of Michael Gove, the Environment Secretary, after it pledged to make all its packaging completely recyclable, biodegradable or compostable by 2025
Under the free scheme people will be asked to recycle crisp packets by sending their bags to recycling firm Terracycle, which will shred them into plastic pellets to be used in everyday items, such as outdoor furniture and trays.
