Lord King’s record
SIR – Derek Walker (Letters, December 7) seems to suggest that Lord King, as governor of the Bank of England, was in no way responsible for the financial crisis of 2008.
I seem to remember, however, that the disastrous takeover of ABN Amro by RBS also happened on his watch. Could it be that this piece of monumental incompetence, too, was outside Lord King’s jurisdiction to prevent? The case of the pot calling the kettle black comes to mind. Tom Whitmore
