-

Exercise

The Chief Medical Officer recommends that adults aged 19-64 get 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity, or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity activity, per week. Adults should also undertake physical activity to improve muscle strength on at least two days per week, and minimise the amount of time spent sitting.

Diet

The Eatwell Guide, issued by Public Health England, recommends that men consume no more than 2,500 kcal, and women 2,000kcal, per day. This should include a spread of food from the main food groups, five portions of fruit and veg, and six to eight glasses of water.

Lifestyle

The Chief Medical Officer’s guidelines for men and women state that it is safest to drink no more than 14 units of alcohol a week on a regular basis, and to spread your units over three or more days. Smokers are encouraged to quit.
