Baby dies after being mauled by dogs

-

A newborn baby boy who was mauled by two Staffordshire bull terriers last month has died.

Reuben Mcnulty was just five weeks old when he was attacked by the dogs at his home in Yaxley, Cambridge.

He died on Thursday after being admitted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with life-threatening injuries.

The dogs were put down after the attack, which happened just before 2am on Nov 18.

Their owners, a 28-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man from Yaxley, were arrested on suspicion of child neglect and have been released under investigation. They were named locally as Dan Mcnulty and Amy Litchfield, the parents of Reuben.

Paul Litchfield, Reuben’s grandfather, said after the attack that the infant had been injured in a “freak accident” and insisted that Mr Mcnulty and Ms Litchfield were good parents.
