The end of the tunnel

Sir – Crossrail is overrunning in time and money (Business, December 12). The Mayor of London seeks political advantage in blaming the Government. How disingenuous!

As a civil engineer, I find it so disappointing, after the tunnelling went so well. One has to ask why there was no prediction of overruns until recently. This gives no confidence in HS2 going ahead.
