Ugandan pop star in hiding after hotel raid

Bobi Wine, the Ugandan pop star turned opposition politician, is in hiding after police raided the hotel in which he was staying before a concert, his lawyer said.

Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi, had been due to perform in Jinja, about 50 miles east of the capital Kampala, on Saturday night.

Mr Kyagulanyi, a prominent critic of Yoweri Museveni, the Ugandan president, wrote on Twitter that police had “arrested many of our team members” and were “looking for me!”
