Two women die in crash during freezing weather
Two women died in a crash which blocked one of the main routes over the Pennines during freezing weather conditions, police have said.
The women, aged 20 and 22, were in a white Fiat 500 on the A628 Woodhead Pass when it was in a crash with a Mini Cooper, police said. The accident happened at 1.30pm on Saturday, as Storm Deirdre began to sweep over the high ground between Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire. Police warned of treacherous conditions.
The man driving the Mini and a female passenger had minor injuries.
