Radio 2 Breakfast Show RADIO 2, 6.30AM

And so a new era dawns on Radio 2, as Chris Evans’s old breakfast-show seat is passed on, as of this morning, to Zoe Ball. She’ll be seeking to make her mark on the plum slot from the get-go, with some new features, a new team, and millions of listeners waiting to hear what she makes of the show. And it’s all change across the schedules: this afternoon Sara Cox takes the wheel in the 5pm Drivetime slot, before Jo Whiley (7pm) and Trevor Nelson (10pm) also get started on their own new individual specialist music shows this evening.

America’s Friends RADIO 4, 8.00PM

 It seems as if there can be no limit to the number of news programmes and documentaries attempting to interpret what Donald Trump’s presidency means, and as long as American politics stay as volatile as they’ve been of late, there will be plenty of angles to explore. This evening, James Naughtie looks at America’s relationship with its allies in Europe, how they’ve been affected by Trump’s presidency so far, and which of the changes brought about by Trump may prove to be permanent in how America interacts with its supposed friends.
