Ice cream burglar gets time in the cooler

♦ A thief has been jailed for five years after CCTV caught him sitting on the doorstep of a house he was about to burgle so he could eat ice cream. Paul Hayman, 36, was poised to break into a house in Luton, Beds, last June but with temperatures hitting 30C he decided first to cool off with a frozen snack. He admitted carrying out four burglaries during the summer months.
