Great in shorts

SIR – My mother’s half-uncle’s wife’s brother was married to Bunny Austin’s daughter. Bunny Austin was the first man to wear shorts at Wimbledon in 1932 (Letters, January 15). A tenuous link to a sporting great I will concede, although he very graciously donated two tickets to my parents for Centre Court shortly before he died. Richard Gibson
