Hacking suspect sues for seized computers
AN ALLEGED hacker is attempting to use a Victorian law to force the National Crime Agency (NCA) to return his seized computers.
Lauri Love, was accused of stealing data from American authorities including the FBI, US military and the Federal Reserve central bank, leading to his arrest by British police six years ago.
Last February, Mr Love, a computer scientist from Stradishall, Suffolk, won a High Court appeal against his extradition to the US, where he faced a possible life sentence if found guilty.
The 34-year-old, who was not charged with any offences in Britain, is taking the NCA to court under the Police Property Act of 1897 to seek the return of his computer equipment.
He is due to appear at Hendon magistrates’ court today in an attempt to retrieve items seized in 2013.
