The 58-year-old is the director and founder of the Institute of Ideas think tank and a former member of the Revolution­ary Communist Party. She is a guest panellist on BBC Radio 4’s The Moral Maze.

Lance Forman London

An ex-special adviser to former trade secretary Lord Lilley, Mr Forman is the director of artisan salmon smokehouse H Forman & Son, Britain’s oldest salmon curer.

Ann Widdecombe South West

A veteran Tory grandee, the 71-year-old quit the party to team up with Nigel Farage in protest over the Government’s handling of Brexit. In recent years she has become a TV personalit­y, appearing on Strictly Come Dancing and Celebrity Big Brother.

Annunziata Rees-mogg East Midlands

The 40-year-old is the sister of Brexiteer Jacob Rees-mogg and a former leader writer for The Daily Telegraph. She ran unsuccessf­ully for the Tories in 2005 and 2010. It was reported that David Cameron asked her to shorten her name to broaden her appeal, but she refused.

John Longworth Yorkshire and the Humber

Chairman of the Brexit campaign group Leave Means Leave. He previously served as director-general of the British Chambers of Commerce.

Ben Habib London

The founder and CEO of First Property Group, operating in the UK, Poland and Romania. He started off his career in finance working for Shearson Lehman Brothers.

A PR consultant and former Tory member of the Scottish Parliament, he faced criticism leading up to the European elections over his decision to live in France and London.

Henrik Overgaard-nielsen North West

A Danish dentist and chairman of the General Dental Practice Committee. He previously co-chaired the No campaign in the Danish referendum on the Maastricht Treaty. David Bull North West A former NHS doctor and TV presenter. He was previously selected as the preferred Tory candidate for Brighton Pavilion in 2006 but stood down to head the Conservati­ve policy review on sexual health.

Rupert Lowe West Midlands

A businessma­n who was chairman of Southampto­n FC between 1996 and 2006. He entered politics in 1997, standing for the Referendum Party. He was also a campaigner for Vote Leave in 2016.
