Hen party house shut after outrage at naked antics

- By Phoebe Southworth

A SUBURBAN home hosting hen and stag parties has been forced to close after neighbours complained about phallic-shaped inflatable objects strewn across the gardens and “butlers in the buff ”.

The £1 million property in Talbot Woods, Dorset, was being rented out to revellers who “shouted and swore at all hours” around the hot tub and kept neighbours awake with their drunken antics, a court heard.

One resident said: “I think the groups who rented the property out were under the impression they were on the main strip in Ibiza, not a quiet residential neighbourhood in Bournemouth.”

Officials from Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole council said they had received dozens of complaints since the weekend parties started in March and numerous attempts to curb the anti-social behaviour had failed.

Lee Tharme, an anti-social behaviour officer for the council, told Poole magistrates’ court that there had been groups of up to 20 people partying at the house, and that a noise abatement notice and community protection warning had both been ignored. He said: “The gatherings result in a massive amount of noise and we have had 29 out-of-hours service calls after 6pm. They have a total disregard for people.”

The five-bedroom property was being advertised as “The Stag House and The Party House” on the website Adventure Connections.

It is owned by Stephen Millar and

rented out by Max Walker, 54, a local businessman.

Granting an application for the business to close for three months – the maximum period allowed by law – District Judge Stephen Nicholls ruled that the men could only enter the premises to clean up and dismantle the hot tub.

The house is the latest mansion in the Bournemouth and Poole area to be rented out for parties, with landlords charging groups up to £3,000 for a weekend.
