One Nation PM

-

SIR – As Black and Minority Ethnic members of the Conservative Party, we are supporting Boris Johnson’s campaign to be the next party leader and prime minister.

Mr Johnson, as a twice-elected mayor of London, won support from across the city’s diverse cultures. He has consistently championed tolerance. In fact, he has said that tolerance is no longer enough and that we must ensure we are inclusive.

Mr Johnson will work to increase diversity within the Conservative Party. He is passionate about the benefits of immigration, although it must be controlled. His article in the Telegraph last year about the niqab has been wilfully misinterpreted: he was standing up for women and their right to make their own choices.

Mr Johnson is a social liberal and a One Nation Conservative. He will deliver policies to increase housing for young people, reduce crime as he did in London, prioritise education by making the spending formula fairer, and ensure that every household has full fibre broadband by 2025.

We are proud to be members of a party that is open and inclusive, and aims to reflect modern Britain. This is why we are supporting Mr Johnson.
