Holiday vibe: I plan according to the holiday. Last summer we went to Greece and I subconsciously opted for whites and blues, and when I knew I was going to Morocco, I went for lots of rich ochre and earthy tones. There’s an Australian brand that I love called Little Tienda – I’ve bought a few pieces over the years. I also have some vintage Mexican dresses that I have been collecting. They’re brilliant for those few hours when you get back from the beach or the pool and have a shower, then sit down with a gin and tonic and a book. Packing strategy: I use a rail in my bedroom. I think it stems from the fact that I used to do it all the time when I was a fashion editor. Now I treat my holiday packing as a story. The swimwear: I bought a black Jcrew bikini two years ago that comes with me every time. I have a Jets swimsuit, which is a crossover style with great secret support. I like feeling that I am held in, it gives you a bit of confidence.
Beauty essentials: I take as little make-up as possible, I just prefer to go bare-faced. I always take a bright lipstick, though – Mac’s Lady Danger is the perfect orangey summer red. I have been trying a great Sarah Chapman moisturiser called Skin Insurance, which is an SPF and tinted moisturiser in one. I love Aerin’s gorgeous perfumed moisturisers – they’re great multitaskers and mean you don’t need to take a fragrance.
The finishing touches: I have invested in a few different sandals this year and that will do me for a while now, because they are just perfect. I bought the Birkenstock x Il Pellicano raffia Arizonas and snake-print dad sandals with Velcro straps from Joseph – they are just so comfortable. I treated myself to a Pippa Holt belt – it’s a Mexican style, which matches her Mexican dresses. They aren’t cheap, but I’ve found it so useful.
