Online shopping ban
SIR – I buy many things online with my Sainsbury’s credit card, but Sainsbury’s Bank says that unless I can receive a mobile signal from September it will stop all transactions on my card, because of an EU ruling. There is no mobile reception where I live.
However, when I checked with Lloyds Bank, Natwest Bank and Tesco Bank I was told that this is nonsense and they will use a landline to verify the transaction, which Sainsbury’s says is not allowed.
