Asahi swoops on $11bn Australian beer unit

Asahi, the Japanese giant that snapped up Fuller’s beer brands earlier this year, has swooped on AB Inbev’s Australian beer operations in an $11bn (£9bn) deal. The sale of Carlton & United, which owns Victoria Bitter, Cascade and Crown, comes less than a week after Inbev abandoned the near-$10bn float of its Asian unit.
