Mr Johnson finalises choices for Cabinet and ministerial roles, writes first prime ministerial speech, visits
Conservative campaign headquarters to rally troops and spends time thanking his campaign team.
Wednesday
12pm Theresa May faces her final Prime Minister’s Questions. 1pm Philip Hammond hands Mrs May his resignation as Chancellor. Other Remainsupporting ministers, including Rory Stewart, David
Gauke and Greg Clark, are expected to follow suit.
2pm
Mr Johnson begins seeing ministers he intends to sack. 3pm
Mrs May visits the Queen at
Buckingham Palace to tender her resignation. 4pm
Mr Johnson visits the Queen and is invited to form a government. 5pm
Makes first speech as prime
minister outside No 10 and enters the building for the first time as PM. Carrie Symonds, his girlfriend, is not expected to accompany him at this stage. Evening
Cabinet appointments and meets senior civil servants to be given nuclear codes and for updates on national security. Writes “letters of last resort” to commanders of
Trident-carrying submarines. Congratulatory phone calls from world leaders.
Thursday
9am First meeting of new Cabinet. Morning junior ministers. Afternoon Statement to Commons.
Friday
First visit outside London likely. Its location key to sending message about priorities.
