Lord Hogan-howe

Commission­er of the Met throughout Operation Midland, he distanced himself from the day-to-day running. When it began to unravel, he said he was sorry for any distress caused to the accused, but refused to apologise for the investigat­ion. Later issued a personal apology to Lord Bramall, Lady Brittan and Harvey Proctor. Retired in Feb 2017 and was elevated to the Lords that year.

Dep Asst Commission­er Steve Rodhouse

In overall charge of Operation Midland. Was present at the press conference in Dec 2014, when the phrase “credible and true” was first used. Was the subject of a voluntary referral to the Independen­t Police Complaints Commission in Nov 2016. Left the Met in May 2018 to join the National Crime Agency as director general of operations on a salary of £214,722 a year.

Asst Commission­er Patricia Gallan

Along with Mr Rodhouse was in overall charge of Operation Midland. Retired on a full pension last year.

Det Supt Kenny Mcdonald

The initial head of the investigat­ion, described Beech as “credible and true”. Replaced as head in Oct 2015, months before it was closed down. Retired in May.

Det Chief Insp Diane Tudway

Responsibl­e for signing the applicatio­n for search warrants. Believed to be off sick.

Det Insp Alison Hepworth

Was part of the team that investigat­ed Beech’s claims. Now retired.

Det Sgt Eric Sword

Retired in 2017 while still under investigat­ion over alleged wrongdoing during the

Det Sgt Danny Chatfield

Liaison officer for Carl Beech. Still serving in Scotland Yard.

Det Sgt Matt Flynn

Led the search at Mr Proctor’s home in 2015. Still serving.

Det Sgt James Townly

The first Scotland Yard officer to interview Beech in Oct 2014. Still serving.
