MAN FRIDAY WHY IT’S WORTH SWITCHING THINGS UP AS WE ENTER INTO AUTUMN
Even if your return to work has been a particular wrench this week, take comfort in the fact it probably hasn’t been as bad at Boris Johnson’s. As we eye up the need to switch back into more formal attire, and a sense of properness after linens and breezy shorts, it’s worth reassessing how you approach your work get-up.
You’ll notice there’s no tie in this line-up; the tie’s been dying a slow death for a while and it’s worth opting for collarless shirt variants that reflect that. Similarly, technical fabrics in suiting make for a more modern, relevant look; a Zegna suit you can throw in the washing machine, for example. Boots – hitherto the uniform for country yomps – have worked their way into suiting.
Some resolutions include a proper umbrella in the hope that the cost and fact it isn’t a plastic throwaway number will mean I’m less likely to lose it. I’d also advise exploring the world of shirt subscriptions, which can act as a sartorial stork drop to keep your wardrobe fresh.
I’m investing in a shoe tree and a downsized bag.
Why not add some new grooming touches too; a woody scent that nods to autumn and a handsome shaving kit.
