Pc said sex attack suspect was ‘good guy’
A police constable has been sacked after he cautioned a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman and told her the attacker was a “good guy”.
Christopher English was dismissed by Northumbria Police after the victim claimed her allegations that she was groped on a night out in Newcastle in 2016 were not investigated properly.
A tribunal heard he cautioned a man in 2016 after reviewing CCTV and told the victim the suspect was a “good guy”. Footage showed a drunk man grabbing her throat and shoving her head against a wall before the alleged sexual assault, the hearing was told.
