N Korea fires missiles after offering US talks

North Korea fired projectiles into the sea yesterday, South Korea’s military claimed, hours after Pyongyang said it was willing to reopen talks with the US.

Negotiations between Pyongyang and Washington have been on ice since a second summit between Kim Jong-un and President Donald Trump was halted in February. On Monday the North said it was ready “to sit with the US side” in late September.

North Korea reportedly twice launched “unidentified projectiles” yesterday, which travelled east for about 330 kilometres (205 miles).
