Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) SKY CINEMA PREMIERE, 8.00PM ★★★★

 This biopic of Freddie Mercury, from the formation of Queen in 1970 to their moment of greatest global recognition, at Live Aid in 1985, garnered mixed reviews, but it took huge amounts at the box office and won four Oscars, including one for Rami Malek’s portrayal of Mercury. The seedier side of his life is lightly drawn, but if you take this as a jukebox musical, it’s a rollicking ride.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (2011)

E4, 9.00PM ★★★★

Tom Cruise rises to the challenge in this gravity-defying thrill ride. The plot surrounds Cruise (playing Ethan Hunt) with a gifted gang of operatives, including a faithful friend (Simon Pegg’s Benji), a lovely but platonic sidekick (Paula Patton), and an “enigmatic” new buddy (Jeremy Renner), who must collectively prevent a nuclear strike.

The Lunchbox (2013) BBC TWO, 11.45PM; NOT BBC SCOTLAND ★★★

Bollywood star Irrfan Khan (the adult storyteller in The Life of Pi) plays Saajan, an ageing office drone who finds the wrong lunch box delivered to his desk, in this warm and charming Bafta-nominated film. The sender is Ila (Nimrat Kaur), a neglected wife, and the pair establish a connection as they begin a correspondence that evolves from the exchange of pleasantries to expressing their yearnings.
