BUCKINGHAM PALACE October 8th

The Queen arrived at Buckingham Palace from Balmoral Castle this afternoon.

Her Majesty held a Council at 6 pm.

There were present: the Rt Hon Jacob Rees-mogg, MP (Lord President), the Rt Hon Robert Buckland, MP (Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice), the Rt Hon Grant Shapps, MP (Secretary of State for Transport) and the Rt Hon Theresa Villiers, MP (Secretary of State for Environmen­t, Food and Rural Affairs).

The Rt Hon James Berry, MP, the Rt Hon James Cleverly, MP, Dr Thérèse Coffey, MP, the Rt Hon Oliver Dowden, MP, the Rt Hon Joseph Johnson, MP, the Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng, MP, and the Rt Hon Mark Spencer, MP, were sworn in as members of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council.

The Rt Hon Dr Thérèse Coffey, MP, took the Oath of Office, kissed hands upon appointmen­t and received the Seals of Office as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions.

Mrs Ceri King was in attendance as Deputy Clerk of the Council.

The Rt Hon Jacob Rees-mogg, MP, had an audience of Her Majesty before the Council.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were represente­d by Sir David Montgomery, Bt (formerly Her Majesty’s Lordlieute­nant of Perth and Kinross) at the Service of Thanksgivi­ng for the Life of Lieutenant Colonel Sir Robert Stewart (formerly Her Majesty’s Lord-lieutenant of Kinrosshir­e and Clackmanna­nshire) which was held in Dollar Parish Church, Bridge Street, Dollar, Clackmanna­nshire, this afternoon.

The Princess Royal was represente­d Mrs David Boweslyon.

The Duke of Kent was represente­d by Brigadier Harry Nickerson.

KENSINGTON PALACE October 8th

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Joint Patrons, the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, this afternoon received Mr William Gates (Co-chairman and Trustee of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation).

His Royal Highness, Joint Patron, the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, received Mr Jason Knauf (Chief Executive).

BUCKINGHAM PALACE October 8th

The Duke of York this morning visited Hub71, Al Khatem Tower, ADGM Square Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

His Royal Highness this afternoon visited the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise, Al Wahda Tower, Hazza Bin Zayed Street, Abu Dhabi.

The Duke of York afterwards visited the Emirates Diplomatic Academy, Hamdan Bin Mohammed Street, Al Hosn Palace District, and was received by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (His Excellency Mr Patrick Moody) and Zaki Nusseibeh (Minister of State for Cultural Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Internatio­nal Co-operation).

ST JAMES’S PALACE October 8th

The Countess of Wessex, President, Brainwave, this morning visited the Brainwave North West Centre, Unit 602, Birchwood One Business Park, Dewhurst Road, Birchwood, Warrington, to celebrate its Tenth Anniversar­y, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-lieutenant of Cheshire (Mr David Briggs).

Her Royal Highness, President, Girlguidin­g, this afternoon opened the new residentia­l building, “the Lookout”, at Cheshire Forest Pettypool Activity Centre, Sandiway, Northwich, Cheshire.

The Countess of Wessex later visited Tarporley War Memorial Hospital, 14 Park Road, Tarporley, Cheshire, to celebrate its Centenary.

ST JAMES’S PALACE October 8th

The Princess Royal, accompanie­d by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this morning departed from Heathrow Airport, London for Japan.

Mr Charles Davies is in attendance.

KENSINGTON PALACE October 8th

The Duke of Gloucester this evening attended a Dinner at the Residence of the Wali of Souss-massa, Agadir, Morocco.

ST JAMES’S PALACE October 8th

The Duke of Kent today visited the Wheels Project Limited, 31-32, Bonville Road, Brislingto­n, Bristol, to mark its Fortieth Anniversar­y, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-lieutenant of the County and City of Bristol (Mrs Peaches Golding).

His Royal Highness, Grand Master, United Grand Lodge of England, this afternoon attended a Lunch at Freemasons’ Hall, 31 Park Street, Bristol.

The Duke of Kent later viewed the progress of the Organ Renovation Project and the restoratio­n of the Rose Window at Bristol Cathedral.
