NIGEL Farage’s Brexit Party won’t have a single MP after the election, a leading academic has claimed, as more of the party’s candidates stood down and urged voters to back the Conservatives.

Matthew Goodwin, professor of politics at Kent University, told Chopper’s Election Podcast the Brexit Party would not win any seats. He said: “Nigel Farage

has to ask himself, does he want to go down in history as the most influential politician not elected to Westminster who effectively brought about Brexit? Or does he want to be the guy who attracted 5 to 7 per cent and cost Boris Johnson victory, and by extension brought down Brexit?”

Meanwhile, Peter Udale, the Brexit Party candidate in the Cotswolds, said he was standing down and urged voters in his area to support the Tories.
