Pensioners prosecuted for soaking neighbour
A RETIRED couple involved in a row with a neighbour over garden debris that was washed under his gate have been prosecuted for soaking him with a hosepipe.
Barry and Hellynne Lee, both 72, admitted common assault on Harold Burrows in Cae Fron, Denbigh, North Wales, on June 4.
Julia Galston, prosecuting, said Mrs Lee had sprayed him and then her husband did the same, remarking: “He likes getting wet, this little man.” The drenching was captured on a Gopro video camera worn by Mr Burrows and footage was shown to the court.
Llandudno magistrates imposed 12-month conditional discharges and ordered the Lees to pay £170 costs each. The court heard the Lees now plan to move.
Mr Burrows, 70, said: “It’s been a nightmare. I will be glad when they sell up.” His wife Jean, also 70, said: “We just want to live in peace.”
