Thousands of troops are away from their families as the UK leads Nato’s enhanced presence in Eastern Europe. Among those based at Tapa Barracks in Estonia is L/cpl Jay Gannon, left, Recce Troop, Queen’s Royal Hussars. He will miss his grandmother’s pigs in blankets but says he is looking forward to “enjoying the craic with the lads and sharing parcels from home. It really brings us together as a troop”.
