Disgraced Sudan leader to face war crimes trial
Sudan has agreed to hand over ousted president Omar Bashir to face a war crimes trial related to the genocide in Darfur that claimed 300,000 lives.
Officials yesterday announced that he would be sent to the International Criminal Court in The Hague to answer claims about the conflict which started in 2003.
“Those who have been indicted by the ICC, they have to go there,” said a spokesman for the Sudan sovereign council. Bashir is currently behind bars for corruption.
