Rabbits’ habits

-

sir – I was surprised to read the recommendation to sell rabbits in pairs (report, February 8).

I have kept pet rabbits for almost 40 years and have never succeeded in keeping two together. Does are very territorial and whenever I have kept a mother and daughter together they have eventually fought.

The rabbit I have now was one of a pair of does bought from a store, to which she had been returned because her sibling attacked her. Friends have also had to separate two does bought together, though neutered males can sometimes be kept peacefully. Sheila Mclarnon
