Q
What’s your personal uniform?
A
Mostly wide-leg trousers, a crisp white T-shirt, Dr Martens or Novesta trainers and a utility jacket.
Q
Which pieces do you spend the most on?
A
As I’m selfemployed I don’t tend to spend a lot on clothes, but I probably spend the most on good quality coats as they’ll last you for years (and in London we spend a lot of time in them). It’s also nice to spend on occasion wear – especially as I am in the midst of wedding mania at the moment. Qand the least? A Day to day I dress quite casually as I am going to artists’ studios, or handling artworks – as long as the fabric is good quality, I tend to wear practical and affordable clothes.
Q
What are your go-to brands?
A
I love functional brands that you can dress up or down such as Rejina Pyo, LF Markey, Toast and Acne. On the high street, I like well-made high street brands such as Cos and Arket. Cos has really well-cut clothes – but they always need trying on as they look like nothing on the rail, and I love Arket for jeans and trainers. Q What’s the hardestworking item in your wardrobe?
A I’m obsessed with Novesta trainers – I have four different colours. I also love my Joseph cashmere utility jacket as it can be worn in winter as a coat or in spring as a jumper. Q What item have you had the longest?
A A shearling coat from Massimo Dutti, which has seen me through years of wear (dating back to my uni days).
Q What’s the last thing you bought?
A
A teal corduroy utility jacket from Arket.
Q How often do you go shopping?
A
Every few months perhaps – but don’t always buy something.
I often just like the walk to somewhere like Redchurch Street [in Shoreditch, East London] where I can browse. Q Who do you go shopping with?
A I tend to go with my husband, which means
that we have started dressing exactly the same! Q Do you rent clothes? Or buy vintage? A I love the idea of the renting model, although I haven’t rented before. I do love second hand and vintage though and will always check out a vintage shop if I pass one. My friends and I have also started doing clothes swaps where we bring everything we don’t wear or feel bored by and swap – the adage “one woman’s trash is another’s treasure” really is true; I’ve found some gems! Q Do you believe in dressing your age? A I believe in dressing timelessly – as I often dress quite minimally, I tend to look out for things that aren’t overly trendbased and will therefore see me through until I’ve worn them to death. Q What do you feel your best in? A Something pared-back, structured and high waisted.
Q
Does your work have an impact on how you dress? A
I find that I tend to dress more functionally due to the nature of my job – meeting artists and being my own boss. There’s no need to be overly formal in the day, but I often have a pair of statement earrings in my handbag so that I can dress up my outfit easily on the go if I’m attending a private view or event in the evening. Q What’s your beauty routine? A I keep my hair short so that I can let it dry naturally, and don’t wear a huge amount of make-up apart from mascara and a bit of Charlotte Tilbury foundation (£34, charlottetilbury.com).
Q AWhat are your go-to beauty products? I love Kevyn Aucoin mascara (£22, lookfantastic.com) because it comes off easily with warm water, meaning you don’t have to use any harsh make-up remover on your face.
