Diabetic sees her drugs running out

-

Britons stuck in Australia are facing medical nightmares. Erica Maher, 35, from Brighton, is in Melbourne with no money for flights. She has type-1 diabetes and said “if I don’t have six injections a day I die.”

With about two weeks of medication left, her insurance runs out tomorrow.

Oliver Simpson, from Leics, is also trying to escape with his mother, to get home to his father and sister who are both at high risk from Covid-19.

“There is a consensus that the [FCO] advice came too late,” he said. “If they had sent it on the day we had landed we would have left for the airport. He (Dominic Raab) sent it at a point where all the airlines were sticking a middle finger up at us and when all the borders were closing.”
