Anthony Joshua is prepared to take on fellow British heavyweight Tyson Fury behind closed doors even if it means losing £6.5million in ticket sales. Joshua, the World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Organisation title-holder, is eager for a unification contest against Fury, holder of the World Boxing Council crown, but the lockdown is making it hard to fix a date. “I would fight for $8million [£6.5million] less at the drop of a hat,” Joshua said.
Football
Sheffield Wednesday’s legal battle with the English Football League will be heard in July. Wednesday have been in dispute with the EFL since November after being charged with breaching profitability and sustainability rules.
Rugby Union
Wales head coach Wayne Pivac has revealed that three members of the national squad have tested positive for coronavirus. Their identities have not been made public and all three are understood to have recovered.
Tennis
The 2020 Laver Cup will not go ahead in late September as planned. It will return next year due to the clash of dates with the rearranged French Open, which is from Sept 20-Oct 4.
