France plans to invest in carbon neutral air travel
France yesterday pledged to spend €1.5billion (£1.3billion) on building a “carbon neutral plane” by 2035 as part of a huge bail-out plan for an aviation industry floored by the pandemic.
“This plane must be produced thanks to a very, very high dilution rate using hydrogen,” Bruno Le Maire, the French finance minister, said as he declared a “state of emergency to save our aeronautics industry so that it can be more competitive”.
