£50m vaginal mesh payout for 500 women
Five-hundred Scottish women have received compensation totalling £50million from Johnson & Johnson for injuries caused by vaginal mesh in an out-of-court settlement.
There have been concerns about the safety of synthetic meshes used for prolapse and incontinence surgery, with complications including persistent pain and sexual problems.
The group brought a claim against the corporation – which has not admitted liability – alleging the mesh was faulty and had caused them injury.
