Police dog rescues couple from ditch

A police dog helped track down a couple in their 80s who had fallen into a ditch after going missing from their home late at night.

The husband and wife, who both have dementia, had not been seen for more than two hours when police began their search in the Haverfordwest area of Pembrokeshire.

But police dog Rey got on the scent and led them to a field. Soon after, the couple were found. Insp Reuben Palin said: “This was a superb effort by all involved to find this elderly and vulnerable couple.”
