Greta pledges €1m prize to climate change fight

Greta Thunberg has pledged to donate the €1million (£900,000) Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity given to her by a Portuguese philanthropic organisation to groups working to protect the environment and halt climate change.

The teenage activist said: “All the prize money will be donated … to organisations and projects working to help people on the front line.

The first €100,000 will go to the SOS Amazonia campaign to tackle the coronavirus outbreak in the Amazon.
