Dog with no name

sir – Charles Moore (July 21) muses on the removal of Wing Commander Guy Gibson’s dog’s name from its grave.

A version of The Dam Busters dubs the name “Blackie” over the original, which conveys the contemporary sentiment and intent of its real name, without the offence of its modern meaning. As for historical accuracy – are any films faultless?
