Historic encounter How duo will match 125-year-old record

David Luiz and Olivier Giroud will be matching a feat last achieved in the 1800s when they play at Wembley today.

Luiz, of Arsenal, and Giroud, of Chelsea, featured in the 2017 final, but playing for the clubs they oppose today. Francis Birley (top image) was the first to do likewise when he turned out for Oxford University against Wanderers in 1873, and then for Wanderers against Oxford four years later, being on the winning team both times. Jack Reynolds (bottom image) played both for and against West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa when they met in the 1892 and 1895 FA Cup finals.
