Airbnb bans antisocial under-25s
AIRBNB has banned under25s with repeated negative reviews from further bookings to cut the number of unauthorised parties.
Testing the initiative in Britain, France and Spain, the online lettings platform said it would stop those under 25 who had fewer than three positive ratings from renting entire homes close to their home addresses.
The move was aimed at limiting antisocial behaviour at Airbnb properties amid concern for events being held that flouted coronavirus guidelines.
“The restriction is to protect local communities while still allowing younger guests to book listings outside of their local area,” Airbnb said.
Last year, Airbnb banned parties held without the host’s knowledge or permission. Brian Chesky, the firm’s co-founder, recently vowed to “get rid of abusive host and guest conduct”.
