Apple is accused of breaking app rules

Apple has been accused by a former executive of allowing China’s Wechat to break the US firm’s iphone apps rules. Phillip Shoemaker, who ran policing of the App Store until 2016, claimed that having Wechat on iphones was a “special exception” because Apple feared being frozen out of the Chinese smartphone market. Apple faces having to remove Wechat from it as part of Donald Trump’s campaign against Chinese technology companies.
