Grandson of Kazakhstan ex-president dies in UK
The grandson of the the former first president of Kazakhstan has died in London from a suspected heart attack just months after speaking out against his family’s alleged corruption.
Aisultan Nazarbayev, grandson of former president Nursultan Nazarbayev, had sought political asylum in the UK because he was afraid of his relatives after uncovering alleged Russian corruption involving billions of dollars.
Last year the 30-year-old was handed a suspended prison sentence after biting a police officer on the arm. Michael Wolkind QC said Nazarbayev’s behaviour was fuelled by mental health difficulties and cocaine.
