Essex police officer dragged by moving car
A man has been arrested after a policeman was dragged by a moving car while attempting to stop the driver.
Officers in Southend, Essex, had approached the vehicle on Sunday but the driver drove off, dragging one officer a short way. Later, the driver knocked over a second officer.
The vehicle was stopped and the driver, a 40-year-old man from Shoeburyness, was arrested on suspicion of assault, dangerous driving, failing to stop and driving while unfit through drink or drugs. He remains in custody.
The two officers suffered minor injuries.
