Tears in Edinburgh

-

sir – I, an Englishman, was brought by my family to live in Edinburgh 44 years ago. Never in that time have I encountered any real anti-english sentiment. A little banter, yes, but nothing vicious.

I thank Scotland for the life I’ve been able to live here. I acknowledge and respect the pride the Scots have in their history and culture. I weep at the thought of their secession from the United Kingdom. It may delight Putin and the EU hierarchy, but the moral and material impact it will have on the people of Scotland will be awful.
