In times of Covid, there’s never been a stronger need for the arts. During lockdown Sky Arts’ audience increased by 50 per cent. As of today, the channel is available free to air (Freeview Channel 11/ Freesat 147), while the on demand library will remain exclusive to Sky and NOW TV. At 10.30pm tonight, Tim Marlow hosts the new culture chat show

Sky Arts Late, which begins by examining the role of the arts in the country’s recovery and features the punk band Idles, Shakespear­e’s Globe artistic director Michelle Terry and actor Jude Law.

Look out tomorrow, too, for Elbow’s Guy Garvey digging into the archives in From the Vaults at 9pm and dusting off early performanc­es from Kate Bush, Dire Straits and The Pretenders. First, there’s this pleasing 90 minutes with AC/DC’S Brian Johnson as he celebrates 25 years of Foo Fighters with the band’s frontman Dave Grohl. They chat warmly about life on the road in cramped vans, memories of Grohl’s first show at a nursing home (which he revisits in the video for 2017 hit Run), Nirvana, breaking his leg on stage and moving into directing documentar­ies.

“I think you’re a great explorer of music,” says Johnson. I think he’s right. Rachel Ward fifth episode. Suzie’s (Piper) husband Cob (Daniel Ings) decides that he no longer wants to be seen as the “boring” one and so the pair plan a wild night out. But Suzie must combine it with dinner with her producers and her own nagging desire to be a better person, so, erraticall­y, turns to prayer.
