Time to wait ... latest Bond film release held back again

- By Jamie Johnson Fleabag

THE latest James Bond film, No Time To Die, will not be released until April next year, it was announced last night.

The action thriller has already been postponed once, and was due in cinemas this November after the coronavirus pandemic meant that an April 2020 release was not feasible.

But Bond fans will have to wait another six months to see Daniel Craig’s final outing as 007, after a statement released on the film’s Twitter account confirmed that showings would be delayed until April 2 2021.

“MGM, Universal and Bond producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, today announced the release of No Time T Die, the 25th film in the James Bond series, will be delayed until April 2 2021 in order to be seen by a worldwide theatrical audience,” the statement said. “We understand the delay will be disappointing to our fans but we now look forward to sharing No Time To Die next year.”

No Time To Die finds Bond enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica when his old CIA friend Felix Leiter, played by Jeffrey Wright, turns up asking for help.

The film will deliver a satisfying ending for Craig’s Bond, according to producer Barbara Broccoli.

Speaking on the first episode of the official James Bond podcast, she said: “It’s a culmination of everything that his portrayal of the character has been through and it ties up all the storylines. It’s a pretty epic film, I have to say.”

Alongside Craig, the film stars Léa Seydoux, Rami Malek, Lashana Lynch and Ana De Armas, and is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, with a script cowritten by Phoebe Waller-bridge, the creator.
