Man is arrested after student, 18, found dead

A man has been arrested after a young woman was found dead in Newcastle.

Police officers were called to an address in the city shortly after 6am on Saturday. Paramedics attended, but the 18-year-old student was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man, also 18, was arrested in connection with the incident and is on police bail while investigations continue.

Northumbria Police said in a statement: “Inquiries into the circumstances around her death are ongoing. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers at this time.”
