Compartment rules

sir – I heartily agree with Dr Bertie Dockerill (Letters, October 2), who hopes for the return of compartmentalised train carriages.

It’s not just to combat coronavirus. Compartments would provide a refuge from mobile phones, and other intrusive sounds and smells.
